Have you ever looked at the world around you and thought, “this seems totally out of control”?

You know, no matter how “out of control” things may seem, God is always at work and is always in control. The Bible tells us just how involved He is with His creation in many passages. The most famous is John 3:16-17 which says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

To know that God was not content to sit idol and allow the world to continue spinning “out of control” is a comfort to me! Instead, He intervened! He put a plan into action!

What was this plan?
To save His creation from the penalty of their sin.

How would He do it?
He would need a substitute to pay the cost of sin. And the Bible says that Jesus Christ was the only One who had the ability to pay. When we believe in Christ, we are promised peace with God and life eternal with Him. Praise God, this plan is for anyone who would believe on Christ!

But God is also in control by involving Himself in even in the smallest details of our lives.
Matthew 10:29-31 says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

So take heart! God’s plan for this world and His plan in the lives of individual believers will ultimately be accomplished because He is in control. The Prophet Isaiah explained it this way,

“Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’Calling a bird of prey from the east…Indeed I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it, I will also do it.” (Isaiah 46:9-11)

Isn’t that encouraging? God Himself is promising that His “counsel shall stand.” The Apostle Paul put it this way when he said, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8: 28).

So even though your world might look like it is spinning out of control at times, you can rest knowing that the Sovereign God is still in control.

My friends, God loves you and has a plan for your life. That plan is to have peace with Him through the work of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. And if you have already believed on the finished work of Christ, you have no reason to fear any present circumstance, for God is totally in control.
